Legal Basis for this Holiday
The Republic Act. No. 10966 also know as “An Act Declaring December 8 of Every Year a Special Non-Working Holiday in the Entire Country to Commemorate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Principal Patroness of the Philippines.”
May this message be sent to President Duterte, that there’s too much holidays have been declared by the past presidents on the request or endorsements by the Catholic Leaders and the latest of which, was the feast of immaculate conception. With due respect, I suggest that holidays relative to religious sector be made only to those member of thier communities alone and not to include others who have no businesses in thier community. This is not to disrupt the goverment agencies in delivering thier services to the serving public. Much more, we have already numerous holidays. The Goverment and the churches must not interfere in one’s internal affairs and this is embodied in our constitution.
