The pilot launch for the Step 1 started last April 30, 2021. Due to the high volume of registrants, many have experienced a technical error and didn’t receive their OTP (one-time-pin).

On the first day of the registration, individuals expressed their frustration with what happened since they expect a quality system. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) even issued an official advisory of what had happened during the first day of registration. They apologized for any inconvenience caused by the downtime of the pilot launch of the PhilSys online Step 1 Registration website earlier that day.
