If you are unsure whether your voter registration is still active, you can check your COMELEC voter registration status before an election.
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Precinct Finder can show your voter status as Active or Inactive, along with your assigned polling place and precinct number. COMELEC has officially identified the Precinct Finder as an online verification method for voters.
This guide explains how to check your voter registration status and what you can do if your record appears inactive.
How to Check Your COMELEC Voter Registration Status Online
You can verify your voter information through the COMELEC Precinct Finder.
Step 1: Go to the official COMELEC Precinct Finder.
Step 2: Select your location. Choose Local (Philippines) if you are registered locally or the appropriate overseas option if applicable.
Step 3: Enter the personal information requested by the system. Make sure the details match the information in your voter registration record.
Step 4: Submit your information and check the search result.
When your record is successfully located, the Precinct Finder may display your:
- Voter Status — Active or Inactive
- Polling Place
- Precinct Number
COMELEC specifically lists these three pieces of information as results available through its Precinct Finder.

What Does ACTIVE Voter Status Mean?
An ACTIVE status generally means your voter registration record remains active in the COMELEC voter database.
Aside from checking your status, you should also take note of the precinct number and polling place displayed by the Precinct Finder, particularly when preparing for an upcoming election.
What Does INACTIVE Voter Status Mean?
An INACTIVE status may mean your voter registration record has been deactivated.
Under Republic Act No. 8189, voter registration may be deactivated for several legal reasons. One common ground is failure to vote in two successive preceding regular elections. Other statutory grounds include certain final criminal judgments, being declared insane or incompetent by competent authority, court-ordered exclusion from the voters’ list, and loss of Filipino citizenship.
If your record shows inactive, this does not necessarily mean you can never vote again. Depending on the reason for deactivation and applicable COMELEC rules, you may be able to apply for reactivation.

How to Reactivate Your Voter Registration
COMELEC rules provide procedures for voters whose registration records have been deactivated to apply for reactivation. Applications are subject to verification and approval through the appropriate election registration process.
For the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), COMELEC’s voter registration period for non-BARMM areas ran from October 20, 2025 to May 18, 2026, while the schedule for BARMM was May 1 to 18, 2026. The 2026 registration period therefore has already ended as of this article’s September 2026 update.
If you currently have an inactive record, contact your local Office of the Election Officer (OEO) for guidance on when and how you can apply for reactivation under the next applicable registration schedule.
What If the Precinct Finder Cannot Find My Record?
If the online system cannot retrieve your voter information, do not immediately assume that your registration has been deactivated.
Double-check the information you entered and make sure it matches your voter registration details.
COMELEC has also advised voters who cannot access their information through the Precinct Finder to contact their Local Election Officer or use COMELEC’s voter verification channels.
